Salary: In line with NAECI Coded Welder Rate (£20.01 + Welding Proficiency Bonus @ £1.00
Hours: 38 hours per week
- Monday – Thursday: 07:30 – 15:35
- Friday: 07:30 – 14:25
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Holidays: 25 Days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays
About the Role
We are currently seeking a skilled Coded TiG Welder for a permanent position based in Hereford, working on-site for a long-standing client in the food manufacturing sector. This role is ideally suited to experienced welders who are coded to current standards and have strong stainless steel welding skills.
You’ll be joining a supportive and professional team engaged in maintenance and fabrication projects in a hygienic, regulated environment where quality and safety are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precision TiG welding on stainless, and other food-grade materials.
- Fabricate and install pipework and structural components within a food production environment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication and installation.
- Ensure welds meet coded standards and maintain high-quality finishes.
- Clean and prepare workpieces, removing contaminants before welding.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspection of welds and components.
- Carry out regular safety checks and risk assessments on-site.
- Work in compliance with hygiene standards specific to food production environments.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to complete scheduled and reactive work.
Essential Requirements
- Coded TiG Welder certification (current or recently lapsed – recertification can be arranged).
- Demonstrable experience welding stainless steel to a high standard.
- Previous experience in food manufacturing or another hygienically sensitive industry.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
- Sound knowledge of health, safety, and quality requirements in a production environment.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Welding/Fabrication.
- Apprenticeship in a mechanical or welding discipline.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing practices.
- Experience with stainless and carbon steel fabrication.
- Knowledge of food-grade welding standards and procedures.
