About the role:
We are seeking a proactive and analytical Cloud FinOps Analyst to join our team and play a key role in shaping the financial governance and efficiency of our cloud infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on how Next leverages the cloud, driving value and fostering a culture of financial accountability.
As a Cloud FinOps Analyst, you will be central to our FinOps practice, with a primary focus on our Microsoft Azure environment. You will support the implementation and maintenance of our cloud financial management framework, helping to maximise the return on our cloud investments.
Your primary responsibilities will involve the continuous monitoring and analysis of our cloud spending, where you will identify trends, patterns, and anomalies. This analytical work will directly enable you to proactively identify and implement significant cost-saving opportunities through resource optimisation, rightsizing, and utilisation tracking. To support data-driven decision-making across the business, you will develop and manage financial dashboards, providing regular insights, reports, and forecasts to key stakeholders.
A key part of your role will be assisting in the creation and management of cloud budgets, ensuring that spending aligns with financial goals and is accurately allocated to the relevant teams. You will also be instrumental in the execution and continuous improvement of our FinOps policies and best practices, helping to define and report on the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that measure our success. Success in this position is built on strong cross-functional collaboration, requiring you to work closely with cloud engineers, DevOps, finance, and procurement teams to embed FinOps principles and promote a culture of responsible cloud usage.
About you:
You are a data-driven individual with a keen eye for detail and a passion for technology and finance. You are an excellent collaborator, comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to achieve common goals.
We are looking for someone with:
Microsoft Azure Experience
Knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services, particularly Azure Cost Management, Reserved Instances and Azure Advisor.
FinOps Acumen
Demonstrable experience in a FinOps-related role, implementing cost-saving initiatives, and generating cost reports. A FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) certification is highly desirable.
Data Analysis and Visualisation Skills
Proficiency with tools like Microsoft Power BI and Google Sheets to build data models, create insightful reports, and visualise complex data.
Cloud Cost Management Tools
Familiarity with cloud cost management and monitoring tools such as Azure Cost Management or other third-party FinOps tooling.
Automation & Scripting
Basic proficiency in a scripting language (e.g., PowerShell) to automate reporting and cost monitoring tasks.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Experience with cloud budgeting and forecasting techniques, with a focus on cost reduction and budget adherence.
Cloud Performance Optimisation
A good understanding of performance optimisation practices like instance rightsizing, workload optimisation, and auto-scaling
