The Post
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on Exeter St Luke’s campus will be expected weekly, and some from home. This full-time post (1.0FTE) is available on an immediate start on a fixed term basis until 30 September 2026.
The Exeter Clinical Trials Unit (ExeCTU) is seeking an experienced data management professional to join its Information Systems and Data Management (ISDM) team as a Clinical Trials Data Specialist. The ISDM team currently consists of 8 staff members working collaboratively together, with skills in both data management and information systems. The data specialist role acts as the lead data management contact on typically 2-3 assigned studies. They are responsible for building new studies in REDCap, implementing efficient data reporting, overseeing data management through the full study lifecycle, and communicating data management updates at team meetings. The data specialist is usually supported by one or more data managers on each study.
A good understanding of data management and REDCap, strong communication and team working skills, and the ability to effectively manage deadlines will allow the ideal candidate to excel in this role.
Suitable candidates must demonstrate that they have recent experience of using REDCap in a UK regulated research environment to build clinical trial databases. Experience in using API integrations and ‘R’ to optimise data management and reporting would be beneficial. The post holder must be committed to ensuring data management processes and timelines are adhered to, with a focus on maintaining data integrity in a Good Clinical Practice (GCP) setting.
Informal enquires should be address to Karen Boardman, Head of Information Systems & Data Management: k.boardman@exeter.ac.uk
