Practitioner Job Summary
We’re looking for team members who bring energy, enthusiasm, and a commitment to creating fun, engaging, and varied activities for the children in our care. If you’re reliable, self-motivated, and enjoy working as part of a team, this role could be a great fit for you! Most importantly, we value individuals who have a genuine interest in interacting with and building positive relationships with primary school-aged children.
Your experience may come from a childcare setting—whether in early years or out-of-school care—or through volunteering or personal involvement with children. Ideally, candidates will hold an SVQ Level 3 in Playwork/CCLD or an HNC in Childcare. If you don’t have one of these qualifications yet, we ask that you’re open to completing the required training within the set timescales to meet SSSC registration requirements.

- Continually developing your practice through training, staff meetings, and self-reflection, contributing to the growth of the whole team
- Assisting with safe collection and travel arrangements for children, whether from classrooms, meeting points, or off-site activities
- Completing reports as needed, including accident/incident records and individual care plans
- Playing a role in promoting and strengthening connections between the service and the wider community
- Building strong partnerships with parents, carers, schools, and other professionals to ensure children receive the best possible support
- Helping with planning and administrative tasks that support the service’s smooth operation
- Encouraging children to explore risk in play safely and confidently
- Empowering children to have a voice, make choices, and take part in decisions that affect them
