About the role

This is an incredibly exciting time to lead the Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru. In addition to its core purpose of monitoring the boundaries for local government in Wales, the Commission has taken on new responsibilities including reviewing Senedd constituency boundaries, hosting the Electoral Management Board, and overseeing the remuneration of councillors. With these new responsibilities, and the need to establish wholly new Senedd constituencies that will be contested at the 2030 election, the Commission is at the forefront of shaping Wales's democratic landscape. The Chair will play a crucial role in steering these initiatives with authority and integrity.

Mae hwn yn gyfnod hynod gyffrous i arwain Comisiwn Democratiaeth a Ffiniau Cymru. Yn ogystal â'i ddiben craidd o fonitro'r ffiniau ar gyfer llywodraeth leol yng Nghymru, mae'r Comisiwn wedi ymgymryd â chyfrifoldebau newydd gan gynnwys adolygu ffiniau etholaethol y Senedd, cynnal y Bwrdd Rheoli Etholiadol, a goruchwylio tâl cynghorwyr. Gyda'r cyfrifoldebau newydd hyn, a'r angen i sefydlu etholaethau hollol newydd ar gyfer y Senedd, y bydd ymgeiswyr yn sefyll ynddynt yn etholiad 2030, mae'r Comisiwn ar flaen y gad o ran llunio tirwedd ddemocrataidd Cymru. Bydd y Cadeirydd yn chwarae rÿl bwysig wrth lywio'r mentrau hyn gydag awdurdod ac uniondeb.
