Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in carpentry and construction, with the ability to work with various materials and tools. This role involves heavy lifting and requires a keen eye for detail to ensure all work is completed to the highest standards. The Carpenter will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials.
Responsibilities
- Construct, install, and repair structures especially Fire Doors as well as frameworks, flooring, and cabinetry using hand tools and power tools.
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials according to specifications.
- Assemble and fabricate wooden structures by following blueprints and technical drawings.
- Ensure all work is plumb, level, and square to maintain structural integrity.
- Perform joinery tasks including fitting doors, windows, and other fixtures.
- Carry out painting and finishing tasks as required to enhance the aesthetic appeal of completed projects.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople on-site to ensure efficient workflow.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Carpenter or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Proficient in using hand tools (saws, chisels) and power tools (drills, sanders).
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required during construction tasks.
- Strong understanding of building codes and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints or drawings.
- Knowledge of electrical systems is an advantage but not essential.
