Ace Joinery Services is an SME with an annual turnover of approximately £10m who are currently seeking an enthusiastic, organised and experienced Buyer based in their Head Office just outside of Milnthorpe, Cumbria.
We are looking for a Buyer on a permanent basis to work closely with the production and commercial teams. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing products while maintaining and developing positive relationships with suppliers. Products have to meet the specification, be of highest possible quality and fit the scope of works. Buyer will work cross functionally with all business departments to achieve successful delivery of the projects.
Job Description
- Provide direct line management to the Purchasing Administrator.
- Manage supplier selection and procurement processes to ensure the acquisition of high-quality materials.
- Oversee purchasing activities for manufacturing and on-site operations, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Develop and standardise procurement workflows, prioritising continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to forecast material requirements and maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships through comprehensive research, strategic recommendations, and effective negotiations.
- Conduct supplier site visits as required.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain.
- Regularly monitor procurement KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery, quality, and purchase price variance) and implement action plans to achieve agreed targets.
- Analyse stakeholder requirements, propose viable solutions, and present these for approval.
- Forecast and manage purchases of strategic stock critical to business operations.
- Oversee inventory management and stock control through MRP systems.
- Participate in weekly meetings with commercial and production teams to provide updates and insights.
- Deliver training to direct reports to support their development.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Key Requirements
Essential:
- Proficient in the use of MRP software.
- Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Strong working knowledge of the Office 365 suite.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing purchasing environment.
Desirable:
- Experience with Sage 200.
- CIPS qualification.
- Higher education in Business or a related discipline.
