About Us
At J & E Group Ltd, our Buying team plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional product ranges and competitive pricing strategies for our customers — both in-store and online. We’re committed to offering a wide selection of products at unbeatable value in today’s competitive retail market.
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Buyer / Buying Assistant
to support our Buying team.
In this varied and fast-paced role, you will handle a mix of administrative and operational tasks — from raising purchase orders to coordinating with suppliers, tracking stock, and assisting in product sourcing.
You will work closely with our London and China-based teams to ensure smooth processes, timely deliveries, and competitive product offerings. While knowledge of Chinese language and overseas market experience would be an advantage, it is not essential.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic retail environment, is highly organised, and enjoys working collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Buying, Store Operations, and Merchandising teams with daily administrative duties.
- Raise and amend purchase orders, manage requisitions, and follow up with suppliers.
- Monitor stock levels, place reorders, and coordinate allocation to stores.
- Assist in evaluating product ranges, availability, and performance.
- Conduct competitor and market trend analysis to inform buying decisions.
- Work closely with warehouse operations to manage allocation, replenishment, and resolve stock issues.
- Produce and maintain key reports using Excel and other reporting tools.
- Contribute ideas for new product development and competitive pricing strategies.
- Ensure all deliveries are checked and stock levels are accurate.
About You
- Previous experience in buying, merchandising, or retail (FMCG or non-FMCG) preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office (essential).
- Strong organisational, analytical, and numerical skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive team player with a “can-do” attitude and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ideally, a degree in business, retail, merchandising, or equivalent experience.
Why Join Us?
- Be part of a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Gain exposure to both UK and international buying operations.
- Opportunity to develop product sourcing and negotiation skills.
- Competitive salary and opportunities for progression.
