Batch & Cullet Operator - Shifts

Role description
Maintain efficient operation of the furnace/batch plant, in order to produce high quality glass for container production.
Responsibilities:
- Comply with Company Health and Safety Procedures in order to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and those around you. Conduct housekeeping as required in accordance with Company Hygiene Rules
- Process incoming raw materials to ensure that quality is maintained. Identify basic mechanical malfunctions with batch plant and furnace equipment. Repair where possible or report to necessary personnel in order to maintain efficient operations.
- Mix and weigh raw material to produce a batch that meets necessary specifications, carrying out regular checks and making adjustments as needed, to ensure that quality is maintained.
- Communicate with colleagues and supervision to ensure that a well-informed team is maintained, and high glass quality achieved.
- Operate vehicles needed to transport batch equipment and raw materials around the plant, as and when required.
- Assist with cullet returns in the basement as and when required using skid loader so that domestic cullet can be recycled.
Required skills / qualifications:
- Observational/Analytical Skills
- Ability to operate - Fork Lift Truck, Mechanical Shovel, Skid Steer Shovel
Ability to identify and respond to problems with:
- Batch recipes.
- Batch equipment.
Understanding of batch operations:
- Weighing
- Mixing

- Salary based on Grade 4 of the harmonised pay scales. Salary min £34,000 - £38,379 max.
