Overview
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic ad-hoc Barista/General Assistant to work in our busy cafe. The ideal candidate will be flexible and happy to work ad-hoc variable hours as a barista cum cafe assistant. This position requires a mix of barista/ customer service skills and an element of food preparation with a knowledge and a commitment to food safety standards and a love of good service.

Responsibilities
- Craft consistently great barista coffees and teas.
- Serve customers and use the till to record all sales.
- Set out and maintain the cafe counter to an agreed standard with essential ticketing and menus in place.
- Assist in food preparation and cooking - as required - under the guidance of the Chef Manager/Relief Manager.
- Clear tables and wash up/load and unload dishwasher of all crockery, glass and cutlery.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, store room and cafe areas.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef Manager.
Requirements
- Barista skills are essential, as this will be a key part of the role.
- Previous experience in a cafe, restaurant or kitchen environment is preferred.
- Basic culinary skills with an understanding of food safety practices would be an advantage.
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Basic maths skills for handling orders and inventory tasks.
- A willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic workplace.
