Job Description – Barista (minimum 12 months experience required)
1. Purpose of the Role
As a Barista, you play a key role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all customers. You will be responsible for preparing high-quality coffee, beverages, and food, delivering efficient and friendly table service, and ensuring the café is kept clean, organised, and customer-focused at all times.
You represent the café both at the counter and on the floor, contributing to excellent service and customer satisfaction.

2. Main Duties & Responsibilities
Customer Service & Food Preparation
- Prepare and serve high quality coffee, drinks and light meals
- Take customer orders at the counter or tables in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide accurate information about menu items and respond to customer questions or concerns.
- Process customer payments accurately via cash, card, or mobile payment systems.
- Deliver food and drinks promptly and efficiently.
- Offer attentive table service and ensure customers feel welcome and valued.
Cleaning & Organisation
- Clear and reset tables quickly to maintain a tidy café environment.
- Carry out regular cleaning duties throughout shifts, including:
- Wiping down tables, counters, chairs, and equipment.
- Sweeping and mopping floors.
- Emptying bins and disposing of waste safely.
- Washing and sanitising dishes, utensils, and trays.
- Cleaning coffee machines, fridges, and food prep areas at scheduled times, including temperature checks.
- Restock supplies (cups, napkins, cutlery, condiments, etc.) as required.
Operational Duties
- Carry out opening and closing duties according to café procedures.
- Monitor stock levels and report low stock items for ordering.
- Liaise with the Chef regarding stock orders.
- Ensure all electrical equipment (e.g., ovens, grills, coffee machine) is safely switched off after use.
- Comply with health, hygiene, and food safety regulations at all times.
- Follow the Employer’s staff checklist and procedures consistently.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work cooperatively with team members and trainees to ensure smooth café operations.
- Communicate effectively with both kitchen and front-of-house staff.
- Follow instructions and direction from the Chef/Manager.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Zero hours contract
Pay: £7.55-£12.21 per hour
