About the Role
We are seeking a talented Associate to join our Value & Risk Advisory team in London, specialising in retail asset valuations for institutional investors. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing professional to work on high-profile retail investment portfolios whilst building expertise in commercial real estate valuation and risk assessment.
Key Responsibilities
Valuation & Analysis
- Conduct comprehensive valuations of retail investment properties including shopping centres, retail parks, high street assets, and mixed-use developments
- Prepare detailed valuation reports in accordance with RICS Red Book standards and international valuation guidelines
- Analyse market data, comparable transactions, and rental evidence to support valuation conclusions
- Perform discounted cash flow (DCF) modelling and other valuation methodologies
Market Research & Intelligence
- Monitor retail property market trends, occupier demand, and investment activity across UK and European markets
- Research and analyse comparable transactions, rental levels, and yield movements
- Maintain databases of market evidence and transactional data
- Contribute to market reports and thought leadership publications
Client Delivery
- Support senior team members in client presentations and meetings
- Assist with portfolio valuations for institutional investors, fund managers, and REITs
- Contribute to due diligence exercises for acquisition and disposal mandates
- Provide analytical support for investment committee papers and board reporting
Risk Assessment
- Identify and assess key risks affecting retail asset values including tenant covenant, lease events, and market factors
- Support ESG and sustainability assessments of retail portfolios
- Assist with scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education & Professional Development
- Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Property, Economics, Finance, or related field
- RICS APC or equivalent professional qualification
- 2-4 years' experience in commercial real estate, preferably in valuation, investment, or advisory roles
Technical Skills
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with proficiency in financial modelling
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Argus or similar valuation software preferred
- Understanding of real estate valuation principles and methodologies
- Knowledge of UK retail property markets and investment structures
