This is initially a full time Maternity Leave cover (up to 12 months) position with the intention of going a permanent full time.
It is an office-based position, for an Assistant Editor with a prospective start date of October 2025.
Job role:
The right candidate will work alongside the Editor on two industry-leading titles: Sign Update, a magazine aimed at sign makers, and Image Reports, a magazine for the wide-format print market.
The role consists of managing, preparing and editing the bi-monthly editorial content for both titles, along with updating the magazines’ website and digital channels.
The role will suit someone with a background in journalism or B2B publishing.

Job description:
The role comprises of several key elements, which are outlined below:
· Sourcing and editing relevant news stories into the magazines’ house-style for each the news section. Both websites are updated daily with news.
· Editorial copy chasing – sending out copy calls for the product focus features as detailed on the Features List, and following up with clients if not enough copy has been received. These are then edited into the magazines’ house-style.
· Writing at least one to two feature length articles for each magazine. These take the form of either interview-style pieces, Q&As, or write-ups following attendance at industry events.
· Organising and chasing in copy from contributors for the monthly columns.
· Sending edited copy to the page designer for layout and proofing the pages using InDesign when they are returned.
· Planning the flatplan using Intelligent Flatplan, in conjunction with the Advertising Manager.
· Digital channel updates – Keeping the website updated with content and features from the magazine. Keeping social media feeds updated daily. Adding e-newsletter articles to the website and sending these to the web department so the e-newsletters can be built. Writing the cover letter for digital issue of both magazines.
· Attending industry events as and when appropriate.
Candidate attributes:
The role requires someone who is capable of managing their time efficiently across multiple tasks, is well organised, and a self-starter.
Knowledge and previous use of InDesign, Word Press and Photoshop are desired, but not essential.
