About the role
As Arable Foreman, you’ll take operational leadership of our arable and estate maintenance activities, supporting both commercial farming and student research. You’ll play a key role in our transition to precision farming, using cutting-edge technologies like GPS, robotics, and drone systems. This role also involves daily feeding of livestock and active engagement with students to enhance their learning experience.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead crop establishment, growth, and harvesting operations.
- Maintain agricultural estate and machinery to high standards.
- Support livestock units with machinery operations.
- Implement precision farming techniques and data-driven decision-making.
- Engage with students to enrich their practical learning.
- Manage budgets and liaise with external service providers.
- Maintain records and uphold health & safety standards.
The successful candidate will have:
- Significant experience in machinery-based operations and precision farming.
- Strong understanding of legislation, compliance, and record-keeping.
- PA1, PA2, and PA6 qualifications (or willingness to train).
- Enthusiasm for working with students and sharing expertise.
- FACTS/BASIS training and agronomy experience (desirable).
