We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Salon Receptionist to join our passionate Hair & Beauty team at our Signature Spa & Salon.

Our fully equipped salons offer a wide range of industry-standard treatments from facials to waxing, massage to pedicures, make-up to spa therapies in a professional yet relaxing environment. The successful candidate will manage the reception area and greet all clients.

The successful applicant will also undertake a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship, balancing work and study with one non-working study day a week.

The apprentice contract is fixed-term until the end of your studies however there is potential for the role to become permanent.

Responsibilities include:

  • Day-to-day management of the reception area, including retail displays, maintaining up-to-date price lists, promotional events and appointment schedules.
  • Greet and tend to clients, booking clients in for appropriate tests relating to their service and recording such details to comply with health and safety requirements. Contacting clients promptly to rearrange appointments as required.
  • To maintain appropriate client records, ensuring up-to-date details are recorded. Monitoring access to client records to ensure confidentiality is adhered to, and complying with GDPR
  • Perform a variety of administrative tasks such as checking emails, voicemails and Teams messages for Signature salon, ensuring a prompt response to clients, processing transactions and monitoring supplies.
  • Promote commercial offers to broaden the client base, liaising with the marketing department and the wider college community to promote services and retail.
  • Supporting learners on reception, training them in basic client communication skills required for their course.
  • Support tutors and students in preparing and maintaining the College Salons and Spa for lessons and client sessions for various courses. Monitoring of equipment loaned to students during sessions.
  • Supporting the smooth running of the salons by restocking towels, products and equipment, etc., as required.
  • Maintaining tidy salons, returning equipment to correct storage areas, refreshing sterilising solutions and restocking with cleaning products.
  • Any other required associated duties to maintain the smooth running of sessions and comply with health and safety regulations.
  • To implement and promote College regulations, policies and procedures.
  • To assist the salon technician and teaching staff with costings and ordering equipment when specified. Liaising with suppliers to establish the cost of materials and products.

Education & Training

  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English & Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • Level 2 Hair & Beauty is desirable but not essential

Experience

  • Ability to utilise Information Technology and Information, Learning and Technology for administrative purposes.
  • Recent experience in a salon environment
  • Awareness of health and safety issues.
  • Awareness of the Hair & Beauty industry
