Do you have experience working in adult learning disability services? Does the opportunity to develop your professional skills supporting individuals with complex support and/or mental health needs sound exciting?

We are looking to recruit to vacancies in our Adult Learning Disability team and are seeking individuals who are interested in developing their professional experience into more specialist clinical areas. We currently have hours available for experienced Speech and Language Therapists to work in our Adult Learning Disability and Mental Health Forensic services, and as part of an Enhanced Support Team for adults with a learning disability. As we can be flexible in how these hours are utilised, we are keen to discuss options with interested individuals.

The Mental Health and Learning Disability Speech and Language Therapy team is made up of mixed grade therapists and you will work in conjunction with them to deliver a quality service within a tiered model of intervention across Fife. The Adult Learning Disability Team is based at Lynebank Hospital, Dunfermline but works across community and inpatient settings across the region.

As a senior and highly experienced member of the wider service you will contribute to strategic planning, policy interpretation and implementation and support consistent and reflective clinical decision making and application of quality improvement methodology. You will bring comprehensive knowledge and experience of responding to referrals / requests for assistance and managing a mixed caseload of communication and swallowing difficulties. A relevant postgraduate qualification and autonomy in the management of dysphagia is essential, as is evidence of ongoing professional development.

The Mental Health and Learning Disability SLT team is part of the wider Fife SLT Service which is fully integrated and professionally led. There are well established PDP and peer support processes with opportunities for clinical and professional development. Clinical decision making in the service is supported by Malcomess Care Aims Intended Outcomes Framework so an understanding of this methodology and personal outcome focused intervention would be an advantage.

For informal enquiries, please contact the Speech and Language Therapy Management Team on 01592 226784.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.

As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here.

For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found here.

It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.

We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
