Currently we have a vacancy to join our team at Heathfield Residential Care Home, Ashford for an Activities co-ordinator to work 9am to 5pm x 4 days per week (30 hours paid contract). This will include alternate weekend working, rota based alongside the activities team.
Salary is based on age related national minimum wage and all breaks are unpaid.
We are looking for someone preferably with a background working with vulnerable individuals and dementia experience, although not essential to have an understanding of this client group. Ideally able developing activity programmes and be professional, organised, driven and have a goodimagination!. Beyond that, it’s all about your brilliant, positive energy and natural ability to get along with people. You’ll have great planning, organisational and IT skills and be able to manage your time effectively. And, whenever you communicate with a Resident or co-worker, you’ll be truly considerate and kind.
As an Activities Co-ordinator this will mean planning and implementing the kinds of activities that will delight our Residents, giving our Residents the confidence to socialise more effectively, working on a new activity idea based on Residents’ hobbies and helping the Home Manager by organising essential fundraising events.
In your role as an Activities Co-ordinator at Heathfield Residential Care Home, Kindness will be at the core of everything you do. Responsibilities
- To arrange outings during the summer
- To raise funds to meet the needs of the clients with the activities
- To organise a programme of events that covers each day
- To book entertainers on a regular basis according to the tastes of the clientele
- To involve other staff in helping to meet this need
- To discuss with clients and their families what stimulation they would prefer
- To monitor the effectiveness of each activity and deal with each appropriately
- To attend workshops re occupational therapy and to apply this to the working environment
- To regularly update the Manager on the progress of the Activities co-ordinator role
- Support healthcare Assistants as needed during resident dining and transfers to other areas.
