JOB SUMMARY
To provide a wide range of activities to engage and stimulate the physical, cognitive and social wellbeing of the resident. To understand the need of promoting the philosophy of privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment for all residents.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Ø Plans, designs and delivers programmes of activities, in consultation with residents, their relatives and the Care Team, that meet the specific needs and requirements of resident’s.
Ø Engages residents in activities such as conversations, letter writing, reading aloud, games or those associated with hobbies and interests
Ø Organises group activities, such as art classes, film shows, handicraft groups, quizzes, board games, bingo, entertainment and group outings
Ø Maintains links with the community
Ø Carries out risk assessments of all planned activities
Ø Assists with fundraising activities and events to finance entertainment and outings
Ø Supports religious practices of resident’s by arranging visits and outings as appropriate
Ø Maintains an inventory of equipment and resources
Ø Records, monitors and maintains activities budget
Ø To plan the home’s special events such as summer fetes, coffee mornings etc.
Ø Discuss the aims and objectives of recreational therapy with other staff members
These duties are not exhaustive. Job holders may be asked to undertake other responsibilities, within their spheres of responsibility and competence
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Ø NVQ Level 2 in care, or willing to work towards or other relevant qualification
Ø Experience of undertaking various crafts / activities
