Job Description:
We are looking for an organized and efficient Accounts Payable Clerk to manage our company’s outgoing payments, maintain accurate financial records, and support our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and experience with accounts payable processes. You will work collaboratively in a small, fast-paced department to ensure accurate and timely processing of purchase invoices and supplier payments within the purchase ledger. You will uphold strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders while supporting the company’s financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
You must be a detail-oriented and efficient accounts payable professional with experience in high-volume environments, typical of the food sector. You must have the proven ability to manage invoice and payment processing, whilst maintaining financial compliance, with accuracy and speed.
You will be expected to:
- Process purchase invoices in line with company policies, ensuring timely approvals, strong communication and accurate data entry.
- Execute monthly supplier payments via BACS, reconcile supplier and credit card statements, as well as resolve discrepancies, to maintain smooth month-end processes.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams, supporting prompt resolution of queries.
- Ensure compliance with financial controls and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end audit processes, as required.
- Have a focus on maintaining and organising accurate records and supporting daily banking activities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in accounts payable or a related finance role is desirable.
- Proficiency in accounting software, such as Sage Accounts. (Training will be provided.)
- Strong understanding of fundamental accounting or bookkeeping principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
