Accounts assistant
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in Accounts payable /receivable.
The ideal candidate will be a key member of the finance team, taking on a varied range of tasks and responsibilities. While the role will involve ad-hoc tasks, there will also be opportunities to grow into more complex financial processes, such as month-end and financial reporting. This role would suit someone who is looking to develop their career further and take on additional responsibilities over time.
Reporting to the Financial Controller. Strong communication skills and a proactive, can-do attitude are essential. You must be comfortable managing your time efficiently, handling ad-hoc requests, and supporting non-finance team members with general queries (including but not limited to VAT questions, payment request, and company car queries).
Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Reconcile supplier statements and manage payment runs.
- Conduct daily bank reconciliations.
- Collaborate with the Financial Controller to prepare ad-hoc reports and complete tasks as required.
- Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Manage time effectively and confidently handle phone calls and communications with suppliers, customers when needed, and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with month-end closing activities, ensuring correct data entry and VAT compliance.
Skills and Experience

- Proficiency in Excel , Word and Outlook
- Great problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Proactive, resilient, and adaptable when dealing with challenges and change.
- A willingness to learn and grow within the role, with the potential to take on more responsibilities over time.
- Experience with month-end processes is a plus, but not essential.
This role is full-time (37.5 hours per week) in the office Monday to Friday. Flexible working hours are available.
