Job Overview
Longacre School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed 1-1 Learning Support Assistant to join our team starting in September 2025. The role will involve working with one or more pupils on a 1-1 basis to achieve their full potential in school, both academically and socially and ensuring that the child is able to access the curriculum and fully engage in school life, embracing the Longacre way.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support for an individual child inside and outside the classroom, during break, lunch times and outdoor lessons, to enable them to interact with others and engage in activities led by all teachers.
- Make reasonable adjustments to aid the pupil to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and on his/her own.
- Supervise and provide particular support for the pupil, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
- Engage children in play-based learning activities that promote social skills, communication, and cognitive development.
- Monitor children's progress and behaviour, providing feedback to parents and teachers as necessary.
- Maintain a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring that all health and safety regulations are adhered to.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to special education and child development.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children.
- A background in special education or related fields is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children of varying ages and abilities.
- A genuine interest in educating and supporting young children in their developmental journey.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with diverse populations.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being capable of taking initiative when required.

The role will be a zero hours, term time only, fixed term contract. This can either be a full time position or part time as part of a job share. Some flexibility with hours may be required.
